1:Tree ‑ Carbon Offset App vs GoodAPI Plant Tree Clean Oceanfor Shopify (2026)
Both 1:Tree ‑ Carbon Offset App and GoodAPI Plant Tree Clean Ocean aim to help Shopify merchants integrate sustainability into their businesses through donations to environmental projects. However, they differ significantly in scope and maturity. 1:Tree focuses specifically on tree planting to offset carbon emissions from packaging and shipping, positioning itself as a simple marketing tool to showcase environmental responsibility with a live tree counter. Its strength lies in its focused approach and straightforward messaging. In contrast, GoodAPI offers a broader range of sustainability actions, including both tree planting and ocean-bound plastic removal. GoodAPI is designed to appeal to eco-conscious customers and enhance customer loyalty by embedding sustainability into retention marketing. It provides extensive marketing resources and support, indicating a target audience seeking comprehensive sustainability integration and enhanced customer engagement. The significant difference in the number of reviews (1 vs. 199) suggests that GoodAPI has been on the market longer, accumulated a larger user base, and has likely undergone more iterations based on user feedback. 1:Tree, on the other hand, appears to be newer or more niche, and while it has a perfect rating, the limited feedback makes it difficult to assess its widespread applicability.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a simple and easily implemented solution solely focused on tree planting to offset shipping and packaging carbon, 1:Tree might be suitable. However, the extremely limited number of reviews means taking a chance on a potentially untested app. For merchants looking for a more robust and feature-rich sustainability solution that encompasses both carbon offsetting and ocean plastic removal, with a stronger emphasis on customer engagement and marketing, GoodAPI is the better choice. The higher number of reviews suggests a more mature product with a proven track record, although the broader feature set might require more initial setup and investment.
