1:Tree ‑ Carbon Offset App vs Impact By Salefor Shopify (2026)
Both 1:Tree - Carbon Offset App and Impact By Sale cater to Shopify merchants seeking to integrate sustainability and social impact into their business model. However, they differ significantly in their approach. 1:Tree focuses primarily on tree planting as a carbon offset solution, directly tying the number of trees planted to individual orders or packages. It emphasizes visual storytelling through a customizable tree counter and personalized assets for marketing, aiming to visibly demonstrate environmental responsibility to customers. Its strength lies in its simplicity and direct connection to tree planting. Impact By Sale offers a broader range of impact initiatives, including tree planting, ocean cleanup, and rainforest protection. It allows merchants to create 'Impact Rules' to automatically donate a portion of sales, offer customer add-ons, or round up purchases to support these initiatives. A key differentiator is its emphasis on tangible and measurable impact, providing proof of impact through vetted projects and donor feedback, offering more robust reporting and tax receipts. This positions Impact By Sale as a more comprehensive platform for merchants aiming for diverse and verifiable social and environmental contributions. The ideal target merchant for Impact By Sale is one looking for a variety of impact options and detailed reporting and tracking capabilities.
