8returns ‑ Returns portal vs AddiFeefor Shopify (2026)
8returns - Returns portal and AddiFee both operate within the 'Returns and warranty' Shopify category, but address very different aspects of post-purchase customer experience. 8returns focuses on streamlining and optimizing the returns process itself, aiming to turn potentially negative experiences into positive touchpoints. Its strengths lie in its all-in-one approach, customization options, and customer retention features like exchanges and store credit. It appears tailored for merchants who want to actively manage and improve their returns process, potentially to reduce return rates and build customer loyalty. AddiFee, on the other hand, addresses the need for additional fees, specifically shipping insurance, by simplifying its integration into the checkout process. Its focus is on generating additional revenue and providing customers with options related to order protection. The primary difference lies in their objectives: 8returns aims to make returns easier and more customer-centric, while AddiFee aims to add a fee for shipping insurance to potentially increase revenue. 8returns emphasizes automation and customization of the entire return process with features like dynamic rules and return analytics, making it suitable for merchants managing a high volume of returns. AddiFee, in contrast, provides a seamless way to offer shipping insurance, focusing on integration at the cart and dynamic fee calculation. The merchant profiles that find these apps useful will therefore be very different. 8returns is geared toward merchants who need to manage returns, while AddiFee is geared toward those who want to offer shipping insurance.

Our Verdict
8returns is ideal for merchants who are actively seeking to optimize their returns process, reduce return rates, and improve customer loyalty through a positive post-purchase experience. Its comprehensive feature set and customization options allow merchants to create a branded and seamless returns portal. AddiFee is more suitable for merchants who want to offer shipping insurance to their customers as an optional add-on to increase revenue and reduce their own risk from damaged or lost shipments. The absence of reviews for AddiFee warrants caution, but the app's focused functionality suggests a simpler implementation process compared to the comprehensive returns management offered by 8returns.
Given the available information, 8returns appears to be a more mature and tested solution, as indicated by its positive reviews and established feature set. However, if a merchant's primary goal is to simply add shipping insurance as an option without managing a full returns process, AddiFee could be a viable option if its functionality performs as described. Merchants should prioritize 8returns if returns management is a key pain point and AddiFee if providing insurance options is the primary objective. Further investigation into AddiFee, especially regarding user reviews when available, is crucial before making a decision.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
AddiFee likely has a simpler setup process due to its focused functionality on adding shipping insurance. 8returns, with its comprehensive feature set for returns management, probably requires more configuration to set up return rules, customize the portal, and manage customer retention features.
Which app is more likely to improve customer satisfaction?
8returns is more likely to improve overall customer satisfaction, particularly if a merchant has issues with its current returns process. A well-designed and efficient returns portal can turn a negative experience into a positive one. AddiFee's impact is more nuanced and depends on whether customers value the option to purchase shipping insurance.
Which app is more focused on increasing revenue?
AddiFee is directly focused on increasing revenue through the addition of shipping insurance fees. While 8returns aims to improve customer loyalty and reduce returns (which can indirectly increase revenue), its primary focus is not on direct revenue generation.
Which app is better for a small business with limited resources?
AddiFee might be a better starting point for a small business with limited resources, as its simpler functionality likely requires less time and effort to set up and manage. 8returns, while powerful, might be overwhelming for a small business without dedicated staff to manage the returns process effectively.
Which app provides analytics and reporting?
8returns provides key return analytics to help reduce return rates. The description of AddiFee does not mention any analytics or reporting capabilities.
