8returns - Returns portal and InstaReturns by ShipDelight both aim to streamline the returns process for Shopify merchants in 2026, offering self-service portals for returns, exchanges, and refunds. However, they differ significantly in their current standing and feature set. 8returns positions itself as an all-in-one platform emphasizing brand customization, customer retention, and data-driven return reduction. Its focus on brand customization and dynamic rules caters to merchants seeking a personalized returns experience. InstaReturns, despite a lower rating (3.1/5) and fewer reviews (2), highlights features like flexible exchanges (higher or lower value) and built-in QC checks, potentially appealing to businesses with more complex inventory or quality control needs. Our Verdict
For most merchants, especially those prioritizing brand experience and customer retention, 8returns appears to be the stronger choice due to its high rating, positive reviews, and emphasis on customization and analytics. Its all-in-one approach simplifies the returns process and aims to build customer loyalty.
However, InstaReturns might be suitable for merchants with more specific needs, such as managing exchanges with varying product values and implementing rigorous quality control checks. The lower rating and few reviews are warning signals and suggests caution with InstaReturns. For merchants with very simple return policies and a desire for basic automation, InstaReturns might be a starting point, but it is difficult to recommend over 8returns.
