8returns ‑ Returns portal vs My Product Registrationfor Shopify (2026)
8returns - Returns portal and My Product Registration are both Shopify apps operating within the 'Returns and warranty' category, but they cater to fundamentally different merchant needs. 8returns focuses on streamlining and optimizing the *returns* process, offering automated exchanges, refunds, store credit, and label generation. Its strength lies in providing a customizable and efficient return experience that aims to retain customers and reduce return rates through analytics and dynamic rules. My Product Registration, on the other hand, centers around *product registration, warranty, and claims*, aiming to build post-purchase customer relationships and boost satisfaction by providing excellent after-sales service. The key difference lies in their core functionality. 8returns is designed to handle the logistics and customer experience of items being sent *back* to the store. My Product Registration is designed to manage the product lifecycle *after* the customer receives the product. A merchant facing a high volume of returns would likely benefit most from 8returns, while a merchant selling products with warranties, or needing serial number management, would be better suited for My Product Registration. Both apps offer customization, but 8returns' customization focuses on the returns portal's look and feel, while My Product Registration emphasizes customizing the registration form.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing efficient return processing and customer retention through a seamless return experience, 8returns is the clear choice. Its automation capabilities, focus on customization, and return-specific analytics offer a comprehensive solution for managing returns. However, for merchants offering warranties, needing to track serial numbers, or wanting to build strong post-purchase customer relationships through product registration and claims management, My Product Registration is the superior option. It focuses on a different stage of the customer lifecycle and provides the tools necessary to manage after-sales service effectively.
Essentially, if your pain point is handling returns, choose 8returns. If your pain point is managing product warranties and customer information post-purchase, choose My Product Registration. They can even complement each other in some business models, offering a complete returns and warranty solution.
