8returns ‑ Returns portal vs ShipSaver: Insurance & Labelsfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, 8returns - Returns portal and ShipSaver: Insurance & Labels offer distinct solutions for Shopify merchants, despite both being listed under the "Returns and warranty" category. 8returns positions itself as a comprehensive returns management platform, focusing on automating and customizing the returns process to enhance customer loyalty and reduce return rates. It aims at larger merchants or those prioritizing a seamless and branded returns experience. ShipSaver, on the other hand, emphasizes cost-effective shipping label creation, insurance, and order management. It targets merchants looking for affordable shipping solutions and multi-channel order integration, particularly those selling across various platforms like eBay, Etsy, and Shopify. The key difference lies in their core focus. 8returns concentrates on streamlining and optimizing the *returns* process itself, offering features like self-service portals, exchange and store credit options, and detailed return analytics. ShipSaver focuses on streamlining the *shipping* process, providing discounted labels, insurance, and multi-channel order management, but lacks features directly related to managing the returns process beyond the initial label generation for returned items. Therefore, merchants must assess where their pain points lie - if it's improving the returns flow, then 8returns is the option; if it's reducing shipping costs, then ShipSaver fits the bill. The significant difference in ratings and reviews should also factor into the decision-making process.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants struggling with high return rates and looking to improve their customer experience through a seamless and branded returns process, 8returns is the clear winner. Its features are specifically designed to automate and optimize the returns flow, offering options for exchanges, store credit, and in-depth analytics. The strong rating and positive reviews further solidify its position as a reliable solution.
However, for merchants primarily concerned with minimizing shipping costs and streamlining label creation, especially those selling across multiple platforms, ShipSaver could be a viable option. While it lacks features related to return *management*, its focus on discounted shipping labels and multi-channel integration could provide significant cost savings and efficiency. However, the lack of reviews and zero rating should be investigated further before committing to the app.
