8returns ‑ Returns portal vs Swap Shipping & Returnsfor Shopify (2026)
Both 8returns ‑ Returns portal and Swap Shipping & Returns are highly-rated (5/5) Shopify apps aimed at streamlining and automating the returns process for e-commerce merchants. They both offer features such as self-service returns portals, customized return rules, exchange options, store credit functionality, and analytics to help reduce return rates. However, there are subtle differences in their positioning and feature emphasis. 8returns focuses more heavily on complete customizability and a returns experience that precisely matches the brand identity. Our Verdict
For merchants who want absolute control over the branding and visual aspects of their returns portal and place a high value on offering repair options, 8returns might be the better choice. The emphasis on full customization and various return management options gives businesses the flexibility to tailor the experience exactly as they envision. On the other hand, Swap Shipping & Returns appears to be a stronger option for businesses that require extensive integrations with existing systems, prioritize AI-powered insights into return reasons, and operate globally. The AI Insights feature and the 'global returns platform' positioning suggest a more sophisticated, data-driven approach to return management, particularly useful for larger or internationally-focused operations. In general, merchants needing advanced integration and AI features should prioritize Swap, whereas those needing maximum branding control and versatile return options should opt for 8returns.
