Addify ‑ Approve New Customers vs OTP Login with Phonefor Shopify (2026)
Addify ‑ Approve New Customers and OTP Login with Phone both aim to enhance the customer account experience on Shopify, but they address fundamentally different aspects. Addify focuses on controlling access by manually approving new customer registrations, particularly useful for businesses needing curated communities or restricted access based on customer types (e.g., B2B, wholesalers). It offers a layer of administrative control over who can access the store and potentially special promotions. Conversely, OTP Login with Phone prioritizes a seamless and secure login experience by replacing traditional passwords with one-time codes sent via SMS or email. This enhances security and simplifies the login process, potentially improving conversion rates and reducing account-related friction.

Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to build a gated community, restrict access based on customer type (B2B, wholesale, etc.), and have granular control over who can register, Addify - Approve New Customers is the better choice. The ability to manually approve accounts and segment users with tags provides significant administrative oversight. However, if you're primarily concerned with simplifying the login process, improving security, and offering a smoother user experience for all customers, then OTP Login with Phone is the superior option. The OTP login method is generally more convenient and secure for the average online shopper.
Common Questions

OTP Login with Phone likely requires less ongoing maintenance, as it automates the login process. Addify requires manual review of new customer registrations, which can be time-consuming depending on the volume of requests.
Does Addify support bulk approvals?
The provided information doesn't explicitly state bulk approvals. The app seems designed for individual review and approval of customer registration requests.
