Addify ‑ Country Restrictions vs Essential Upsell & Cross Sellfor Shopify (2026)
Addify ‑ Country Restrictions and Essential Upsell & Cross Sell are both 5-star rated Shopify apps, but they cater to vastly different needs. Addify focuses on restricting product visibility and purchase options based on geographical location. It's designed to help merchants manage international sales complexities by hiding products, prices, or add-to-cart buttons in specific countries where those products aren't available. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell, on the other hand, is all about boosting Average Order Value (AOV) through strategic product recommendations and upsell tactics. It provides features to display frequently bought together items, related products, and post-purchase upsell offers. The key difference lies in their core function: Addify manages product availability based on location, while Essential Upsell & Cross Sell focuses on increasing sales through smart product suggestions. Addify's target audience is merchants operating in multiple countries with varying product availability, compliance issues, or logistical constraints. Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is aimed at merchants looking to improve their AOV by leveraging upsell and cross-sell strategies, irrespective of their geographic reach. The shared category 'Checkout' is misleading since Addify's features occur *before* the checkout to restrict access, while Essential Upsell focuses on checkout modifications to increase order value.

Our Verdict
If you are struggling with international shipping limitations, legal restrictions on specific products in certain countries, or want to tailor your product catalog based on customer location, Addify ‑ Country Restrictions is the clear choice. Its rule-based system provides the necessary tools to manage product visibility by country.
However, if your primary goal is to increase your Average Order Value (AOV) by strategically suggesting related or complementary products to your customers, Essential Upsell & Cross Sell is the better option. It offers a robust suite of features for creating upsell and cross-sell campaigns. While Addify has a limited number of reviews, it addresses a specific pain point effectively; the low review count suggests a smaller, more niche audience compared to the broad appeal of upselling offered by Essential Upsell.
