Advanced Shipping Rate Manager vs Boxifyfor Shopify (2026)
Advanced Shipping Rate Manager and Boxify both aim to improve shipping rate accuracy and flexibility on Shopify, but they approach the problem from different angles. Advanced Shipping Rate Manager (ASRM) focuses on providing a comprehensive suite of tools for creating highly customized shipping rules based on various parameters like product attributes, location, and weight, and offers real-time carrier rate calculations as well as flat-rate options. This app seems geared towards merchants with complex shipping needs, potentially including multiple origins and LTL freight. Boxify, on the other hand, directly addresses the challenge of accurate rate calculation by factoring in box sizes and packing configurations. Boxify is specifically built for merchants using carrier-calculated rates from UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express, or Canada Post, where accurate box dimensions are critical. This makes it ideal for businesses selling physical products that vary significantly in size and shape and require a more accurate representation of package dimensions for rate calculations. While Advanced Shipping Rate Manager touches on real-time rates, its broader focus includes a wider array of custom shipping options and rule configurations, making it more versatile but potentially more complex to set up. In contrast, Boxify trades complexity for streamlined accuracy concerning box dimensions and carrier calculations.

Our Verdict
If you need comprehensive control over every aspect of your shipping process, including custom rules based on product attributes, location, and weight, and you ship from multiple origins, Advanced Shipping Rate Manager is likely the better choice, despite its potential complexity. The US-based support is another significant advantage. However, if your primary concern is ensuring accurate shipping rates based on the actual box dimensions and weights as calculated by major carriers, Boxify is the more focused and appropriate solution. It's specifically designed to integrate with carrier rate calculations, streamlining the process of packing and charging accurately.
Common Questions
Does Advanced Shipping Rate Manager support box dimension-based calculations like Boxify?
Advanced Shipping Rate Manager allows for product dimension control which *could* be used indirectly to estimate box dimensions, but it's not the primary function. Boxify is specifically designed for that purpose.
Is Advanced Shipping Rate Manager more expensive than Boxify?
The provided data does not include pricing information, so it's impossible to determine relative cost. It is best to check the Shopify App Store for pricing details.
What if I want both custom shipping rules *and* accurate box dimension calculations?
Depending on your level of technical expertise or budget, you might consider using both apps in conjunction (if compatible) or seeking out a more comprehensive, all-in-one solution that combines both functionalities. Verify if the apps are compatible before installing.
Does Boxify support any shipping carriers beyond UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express, and Canada Post?
Based on the provided description, Boxify is limited to UPS, FedEx, USPS, DHL Express, and Canada Post. Advanced Shipping Rate Manager supports a wider array, including LTL brokers, but the full list is not provided.
Which app is better for a dropshipping business?
Neither app is explicitly better *for* dropshipping businesses. For a dropshipper, the origin location and box dimension accuracy might be controlled by the supplier, so an app that allows custom pricing rules based on product or weight may be more valuable than one primarily focused on box size.
