Advanced Shipping Rate Manager vs DHL Express (Official)for Shopify (2026)
Advanced Shipping Rate Manager and DHL Express (Official) are both Shopify apps in the 'Shipping rates' category, but they cater to distinct merchant needs. Advanced Shipping Rate Manager positions itself as a comprehensive shipping solution, offering granular control over shipping rules, real-time carrier rates via its advanced shipping calculator, and support for multiple origins. It aims to reduce cart abandonment by providing accurate rates and delivery estimates. DHL Express (Official), on the other hand, focuses primarily on facilitating international shipping specifically with DHL Express services. It streamlines the process by automating order import, label printing, and customs clearance, appealing to merchants prioritizing DHL as their carrier of choice for international orders. While Advanced Shipping Rate Manager emphasizes flexibility and customization with features like product-specific rules and address classification, DHL Express (Official) prioritizes efficiency and integration with DHL's ecosystem. The former likely suits merchants with complex shipping requirements involving multiple carriers, origins, and varied product dimensions. The latter caters to merchants already using DHL Express for international shipping and wanting a simplified, automated workflow. The significant difference in ratings and reviews suggests Advanced Shipping Rate Manager has a wider user base and greater satisfaction, likely due to its broader application and more comprehensive feature set, but this also may be because of a longer time on the market.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking complete control over their shipping rates and the ability to integrate with multiple carriers, Advanced Shipping Rate Manager is the stronger choice. Its comprehensive feature set allows for highly customized shipping rules based on a variety of factors, including product attributes, location, and weight. However, the complexity might require more setup time and technical expertise. If a merchant's primary focus is international shipping via DHL Express and they prioritize a streamlined, automated workflow, the DHL Express (Official) app is the more suitable option. It simplifies label creation, customs clearance, and tracking, saving time and reducing manual effort, especially for those already familiar with DHL's platform. The lower rating, however, warrants caution and further investigation before committing.
Common Questions
Does Advanced Shipping Rate Manager integrate with DHL Express?
Advanced Shipping Rate Manager connects with the leading parcel couriers in real-time via its advanced shipping calculator. While DHL Express is likely one of the supported carriers, you will still need to configure it. In contrast, the DHL Express (Official) app is a direct integration with their services.
Can I use both apps at the same time?
While technically possible, it's likely redundant and could cause conflicts. Choose the app that best aligns with your core shipping strategy and carrier preferences. It's probably better to choose one to manage rates, and not have multiple.
Is Advanced Shipping Rate Manager more expensive than DHL Express (Official)?
The provided data doesn't include pricing information, so it's impossible to determine which app is more expensive. You would need to check the Shopify App Store for pricing details.
Is Advanced Shipping Rate Manager difficult to set up?
Given its extensive feature set and customisation options, Advanced Shipping Rate Manager is potentially more complex to set up than DHL Express (Official). Merchants may need to dedicate more time to configure shipping rules according to their specific needs.
Does the DHL Express app support multiple carriers?
No. The DHL Express (Official) app is specifically designed to integrate with DHL Express services only. If you use a wide range of shipping services from different providers, this would not be an appropriate solution.
