AE: Order Editing & Upsell vs ChatBot by Textfor Shopify (2026)
AE: Order Editing & Upsell and ChatBot by Text are both highly rated Shopify apps, but they address vastly different aspects of the e-commerce experience. AE: Order Editing & Upsell focuses on post-purchase order management, empowering customers to self-manage their orders by editing items, addresses, and even initiating smart cancellations, thereby reducing support load and increasing AOV through upsells. It specifically targets merchants looking to improve the post-purchase experience and streamline order management through customer self-service. It leverages features like Google-powered address validation and Shopify Flow integration for automation. ChatBot by Text, on the other hand, is designed to enhance customer engagement and sales by providing 24/7 support, personalized product recommendations, and order status updates through a chatbot interface. It aims to improve the pre-purchase and immediate post-purchase customer journey. Its strength lies in its ease of implementation and the potential for increased conversion rates through proactive engagement. The core difference is that one app addresses problems after the order is placed, while the other is more heavily weighted towards pre-purchase and initial post-purchase engagement.

Our Verdict
Choosing between AE: Order Editing & Upsell and ChatBot by Text depends entirely on the merchant's specific needs. If the primary goal is to reduce cancellations, returns, and support tickets related to order management while simultaneously increasing AOV, then AE: Order Editing & Upsell is the clear choice. Its focus on post-purchase order control empowers customers and streamlines processes. The number of reviews is a substantial indication of established utility. However, if the priority is to improve customer engagement, provide instant support, and boost sales through personalized product recommendations, ChatBot by Text is more suitable. While having fewer reviews, the promise of improving customer engagement and sales is appealing for smaller stores looking to grow.
For merchants with significant order volume and post-purchase customer service demands, AE: Order Editing & Upsell offers a more robust solution. Smaller or newer stores prioritizing customer acquisition and initial engagement might benefit more from ChatBot by Text, especially if they lack dedicated customer support staff.
