Our Verdict
If your primary need is to streamline your shipping and fulfillment processes, reduce shipping costs, and manage inventory efficiently, ShipStation is the clear choice. Its comprehensive feature set and carrier discounts make it a powerful tool for businesses with significant shipping volume. However, if your focus is on improving the post-purchase customer experience, reducing order cancellations and support tickets by enabling self-service order modifications, and increasing average order value through upsells, AE: Order Editing & Upsell is the better option. While ShipStation excels in the backend of fulfillment, AE: Order Editing & Upsell shines in empowering the customer and reducing friction post-purchase.
For merchants who want a complete solution, these apps could potentially complement each other. A merchant could use AE: Order Editing & Upsell to allow edits and upsells, then ShipStation to fulfill the amended order efficiently. However, if resources are limited, the choice hinges on where the business needs the most immediate improvement: customer experience or operational efficiency.
