Affiliate Marketing ‑ Afflr vs Roster: Ambassador Marketingfor Shopify (2026)
Affiliate Marketing ‑ Afflr and Roster: Ambassador Marketing both aim to boost sales through external partnerships, but they approach it from different angles. Afflr focuses on a broad affiliate marketing strategy, encompassing traditional affiliate programs, customer referrals, and even influencer programs. It emphasizes ease of setup and a comprehensive suite of tools for tracking, rewarding, and managing affiliate relationships, offering various payout options and integrations with marketing tools like Klaviyo. It seems targeted towards merchants who want a plug-and-play solution for diverse affiliate partnerships. Roster, on the other hand, is positioned as an ambassador marketing platform, focusing on building and engaging a community of brand advocates. It's about creating a deeper connection with passionate fans and turning them into active promoters. Their strength lies in tools that facilitate recruitment, engagement through campaigns, user-generated content collection, and performance analytics specific to an ambassador program. Roster is likely best suited for brands seeking a more dedicated, community-driven approach rather than just transactional affiliate relationships. While both fall under the umbrella of 'Affiliate programs' on Shopify, Afflr leans towards a wider net with its integration of referral programs, while Roster is all in on building a thriving ambassador network.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants seeking a quick and comprehensive solution to launch various affiliate programs, including customer referrals and influencer collaborations, Affiliate Marketing - Afflr is likely the better choice due to its emphasis on ease of setup and broad payout options. Its integration with Klaviyo is a plus for email marketing efforts. However, merchants prioritizing building a loyal brand ambassador community, generating user-generated content, and driving awareness through passionate fans will find Roster: Ambassador Marketing to be more aligned with their needs. Roster focuses specifically on engagement and community building rather than general affiliate programs. It's the right choice for brands looking to invest in long-term relationships with their advocates.
While both have relatively low review counts, Roster's perfect rating may indicate a higher level of satisfaction amongst its smaller user base. However, Afflr offers a more comprehensive toolset that encompasses multiple forms of affiliate marketing.
