Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy vs Referwofor Shopify (2026)
Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy and Referwo, while both fitting into the 'Affiliate programs' category on Shopify, approach affiliate marketing from different angles and target distinct segments of merchants. Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy focuses on empowering merchants to build and manage their own in-house affiliate and referral programs, providing tools for onboarding, commission management, and performance tracking within a closed ecosystem. Referwo, on the other hand, acts as a platform connecting brands directly with influencers for product promotion, handling influencer discovery, campaign management, and payment processing between the two parties. The most significant difference lies in the control and scope of the program. ReferrLy offers a comprehensive suite for merchants who want to cultivate relationships with existing customers and brand advocates as affiliates. It features automated link and coupon code generation, post-purchase popups for affiliate recruitment, and custom commission rules. Referwo focuses on enabling businesses to tap into a broader influencer network, offering features such as influencer search, campaign definition (free gift, commissions, discounts), and payment solutions. This places it as more of an influencer marketing platform than an affiliate management tool.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking complete control over their affiliate marketing initiatives and wanting to leverage their existing customer base as brand ambassadors, Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy is the clear choice. Its comprehensive feature set, focused on internal management and high ratings with numerous reviews suggest reliability and effectiveness. This app is ideal for businesses that have strong relationships with their customers and believe in the power of word-of-mouth marketing.
Referwo, with its influencer marketplace approach, is better suited for businesses that want to rapidly expand their reach and explore new audiences through influencer partnerships. While the lack of reviews is a concern, the platform's core features for influencer search and campaign management could be valuable for brands seeking to diversify their marketing efforts and leverage the reach of established influencers. However, due diligence is critical given the lack of social proof. Further research and perhaps a trial period, if available, would be essential before committing to Referwo.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy is likely easier to set up because it focuses on internal management and provides automated onboarding tools. Referwo involves navigating an influencer marketplace, which could add complexity.
Which app is better for brands with limited marketing resources?
It depends. If a brand already has a strong base of loyal customers, Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy is better because it automates the process of converting them into affiliates. If the brand lacks a dedicated customer base, Referwo might be better initially, but requires more active management of influencer relationships and campaigns.
Which app handles payments to affiliates/influencers?
Affiliate Marketing ReferrLy does not explicitly mention payment processing. Referwo explicitly states it handles transactions between brands and influencers.
Which app provides better reporting and analytics?
Both apps claim to offer performance tracking. ReferrLy tracks referral sales using links and coupon codes, providing a dashboard for affiliates. Referwo offers real-time analytics for both influencers and brands. Without further detail, it's impossible to determine which is 'better,' but both acknowledge its importance.
What are the risks of using Referwo without any reviews?
The main risks involve the platform's reliability, customer support quality, and the potential for fraudulent or ineffective influencer campaigns. Without reviews, there's no user feedback to validate the platform's claims or identify potential issues.
