AfterCart Shipping Protection vs Shipping Protection —Shipcheckfor Shopify (2026)
AfterCart Shipping Protection and Shipping Protection — Shipcheck both aim to help Shopify merchants manage the costs and complexities associated with lost, damaged, or stolen shipments. However, they approach this problem from different angles and cater to slightly different merchant needs. AfterCart positions itself as a flexible solution, offering various options for merchants, including cart page opt-in/out and merchant-funded coverage. Shipcheck, on the other hand, focuses on enabling merchants to create their own shipping protection program, directly charging customers for coverage and retaining all associated revenue. Shipcheck emphasizes building customer trust and increasing average order value. The crucial difference lies in who bears the cost of shipping protection: with AfterCart, the merchant has options to cover it, while Shipcheck primarily focuses on customer-funded protection, allowing merchants to profit from the program when claim rates are low.

Our Verdict
Shipping Protection — Shipcheck is likely the better choice for merchants who want to generate revenue from shipping protection and directly pass the cost onto their customers. Its focus on customer-funded insurance and zero revenue cut makes it appealing to businesses seeking to offset shipping losses and increase average order value. The positive reviews and high rating suggest a positive user experience.
AfterCart Shipping Protection might be more suitable for merchants who desire greater flexibility in how they manage shipping protection. The option to offer cart opt-in/out or fund coverage themselves provides greater control. However, the lack of reviews makes it difficult to assess its effectiveness and ease of use compared to Shipcheck. Merchants who prioritize customer experience and want to absorb some or all of the shipping protection cost might consider AfterCart, but should proceed with caution given the lack of social proof.
