Afterparty Checkout Upsells vs Swish (formerly Wishlist King)for Shopify (2026)
Afterparty Checkout Upsells and Swish (formerly Wishlist King) are both Shopify apps aiming to enhance customer loyalty, but they approach this goal with drastically different strategies and functionalities. Afterparty focuses on increasing average order value by implementing strategically placed upsells and call-to-action blocks during the checkout process and on the Thank You page. It targets merchants looking for immediate revenue boosts through optimized transactional moments. Swish, on the other hand, emphasizes long-term customer engagement by providing a customizable wishlist solution that allows shoppers to save desired items and receive personalized notifications, fostering a more consistent relationship between the customer and the brand. Swish, with a substantial number of reviews, indicates a well-established user base and feature set, focusing on personalized engagement and conversion optimization via wishlists. Its claim of entirely free setup and customization across all plans, combined with integrations like Klaviyo and GA4, suggests a comprehensive solution for merchants seeking advanced customer relationship management and data-driven insights. Afterparty, despite its high rating, currently lacks the extensive user feedback and established presence of Swish, making it a riskier choice for merchants seeking a proven solution. However, its focused approach on checkout and post-purchase upsells might appeal to smaller stores looking for quick, easily implemented AOV improvements.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on immediately increasing their Average Order Value (AOV) through checkout and post-purchase offers, Afterparty Checkout Upsells may be a viable option, especially if ease of implementation is a priority. However, the minimal review count raises concerns about its long-term reliability and effectiveness. Merchants aiming to cultivate stronger customer relationships, encourage repeat purchases through personalized wishlist experiences, and leverage advanced analytics and integrations should strongly consider Swish (formerly Wishlist King). Its established user base and comprehensive feature set provide a more robust and proven solution for long-term growth and customer loyalty.
Given the significant difference in review count and the comprehensiveness of Swish's features, Swish is likely the better choice for most merchants, particularly those who value long-term customer relationships and data-driven insights. While Afterparty may offer a simpler solution for quick AOV boosts, the lack of substantial user feedback makes it a less reliable choice compared to Swish.
