AfterShip Referral & Affiliate vs BL External Links Buttonfor Shopify (2026)
AfterShip Referral & Affiliate and BL External Links Button both reside within the 'Affiliate Programs' category on Shopify, but they serve fundamentally different purposes. AfterShip Referral & Affiliate is a comprehensive solution designed to facilitate referral programs, turning existing customers into brand advocates through word-of-mouth marketing. It offers features like automated reward emails, influencer collaboration tools, and customizable widgets. BL External Links Button, on the other hand, seems to be a much simpler application focused solely on adding external links buttons to a Shopify store; while limited details exist, its high rating (though based on a small number of reviews) suggests it performs this singular function well. The primary difference lies in their scope and complexity. AfterShip aims to grow revenue through incentivized referrals, catering to merchants who prioritize customer advocacy and influencer marketing. BL External Links Button likely provides a straightforward solution for linking to resources outside of the Shopify store, potentially for informational purposes or to direct users to associated platforms. The target audiences are vastly different; AfterShip serves businesses looking to actively cultivate referral networks, while BL External Links Button appears to be useful for any Shopify merchant who needs to link to external URLs.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a comprehensive solution to build a referral program, cultivate brand advocates, and collaborate with influencers to drive sales, AfterShip Referral & Affiliate is the clear choice. Its robust feature set and proven track record (evidenced by a high rating and substantial number of reviews) make it a powerful tool for growth.
However, if a merchant simply needs a straightforward way to add external link buttons to their Shopify store, the BL External Links Button could be a viable solution. Its simplicity and perfect rating suggest it performs its core function effectively. However, the extremely low number of reviews suggests the app is either very new or has a niche audience. Merchants should carefully consider whether AfterShip's more extensive features might ultimately offer better value even if they initially only need basic external links.
Common Questions
