AgeX ‑ age verification popup vs Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fieldsfor Shopify (2026)
AgeX ‑ age verification popup and Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields, while both listed under the 'Legal' category on Shopify, address fundamentally different merchant needs. AgeX focuses on age verification, providing customizable popups with multi-language and country-specific rules to ensure compliance and restrict underage access. Its strength lies in its comprehensive feature set specifically designed for age-restricted products and its user-friendly approach to legal compliance. Tusk, on the other hand, offers a broader utility by enabling merchants to customize checkout fields, presumably for gathering additional customer information. The primary difference lies in their core functionality: AgeX verifies age, while Tusk gathers additional information at checkout. This difference dictates their target audience. Tusk caters to merchants who need to collect specific data from customers during the checkout process, such as gift message options or delivery instructions. Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with verifying customer age due to selling age-restricted products, AgeX ‑ age verification popup is the clear choice. Its comprehensive feature set, including customizable popups, country-based rules, and multi-language support, directly addresses the needs of this market. The higher number of reviews also suggests a more established and reliable solution.
However, if a merchant requires the ability to gather additional information from customers during checkout, and age verification is not a primary concern, Tusk ‑ Custom Checkout Fields might be a suitable option. Without further details on Tusk's features, it's difficult to give a strong recommendation, but its focus on checkout customization fills a different niche than AgeX.
