AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud vs AlterEgo Virtual Fittingfor Shopify (2026)
Both AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud and AlterEgo Virtual Fitting aim to reduce returns and improve customer experience through virtual try-on technology. However, they take different approaches. AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud utilizes AI and user-uploaded selfies to overlay clothing onto a customer's image, emphasizing a quick and personalized experience. Its strength lies in its immediate visual feedback, allowing customers to see how clothes might look on their own photo. This makes it potentially appealing to a broader audience less concerned with precise sizing and more focused on immediate visual confirmation. AlterEgo Virtual Fitting, on the other hand, focuses on creating accurate avatars to provide a more precise sizing experience. This approach involves more upfront user effort to create an avatar but potentially delivers better fitting results. AlterEgo is positioned as a solution specifically to address sizing issues and reduce returns, highlighting its focus on accuracy and sustainability. The app targets merchants who are struggling with return rates due to sizing issues and wish to offer a more deterministic try-on experience.

However, merchants battling high return rates specifically caused by sizing issues should strongly consider AlterEgo Virtual Fitting. While it requires more upfront investment from the customer to create an avatar, the promise of accurate sizing and reduced returns makes it a worthwhile investment in the long run.
