AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud vs Premium AR/3D Viewerfor Shopify (2026)
Both AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud and Premium AR/3D Viewer are highly rated Shopify apps (5/5) in the 3D/AR/VR category, aiming to enhance the customer shopping experience. However, they offer distinct approaches. AI Virtual Try‑On focuses on providing a personalized, try-on experience using AI and user-uploaded selfies to virtually fit clothing. This targets fashion and apparel merchants wanting to reduce returns and increase engagement through personalization. Premium AR/3D Viewer, on the other hand, emphasizes allowing customers to visualize products in 360 degrees and through augmented reality, targeting merchants selling products where seeing all angles and placing the product in a real-world environment would be beneficial. The key differentiator lies in their core functionality. AI Virtual Try‑On centers on 'trying on' clothing, a personalized fit experience driven by AI on Theta EdgeCloud. It highlights features like 'AI Fit Alignment' and 'Quick Preview.' Premium AR/3D Viewer, focuses on AR and 3D viewing, featuring Appless AR viewing and support for the 'glb 3D model format'. Although both fall under the AR/3D umbrella, AI Virtual Try-On addresses a specific need in apparel, while Premium AR/3D Viewer offers broader product visualization capabilities. The review count is marginally higher for AI Virtual Try-On (3 reviews) compared to Premium AR/3D Viewer (2 reviews).

Our Verdict
For merchants selling clothing and apparel, AI Virtual Try‑On by EdgeCloud is the superior choice. Its AI-powered fit alignment offers a personalized experience that can significantly impact purchase decisions and reduce returns. However, for merchants selling products where detailed visualization from all angles or placement within a real-world environment is crucial (e.g., furniture, electronics, home decor), Premium AR/3D Viewer provides a more suitable solution. The 'Appless AR' functionality is a notable advantage for wider accessibility. While both are highly rated, AI Virtual Try-On caters to a more specific, but potentially high-impact, use case.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without specific setup details, it's difficult to definitively say. AI Virtual Try-On likely requires integration with product images and user instructions for selfie uploads. Premium AR/3D Viewer will require properly formatted 3D models to be uploaded. It depends on the merchant's existing assets and technical expertise.
Can both apps work together on the same Shopify store?
Potentially, but likely not ideal. They address different product visualization needs. Using both might confuse customers. A better strategy is to choose the app that best fits the product category being showcased.
Which app is more likely to increase conversion rates?
Both aim to improve conversion rates, but through different mechanisms. AI Virtual Try-On seeks to reduce purchase hesitation through perceived fit and personalized shopping. Premium AR/3D Viewer aims to increase confidence through product detail visibility. The effectiveness depends on the product and target audience.
Does the number of reviews definitively indicate which app is better?
No. While AI Virtual Try-On has a slightly higher review count (3 vs. 2), the sample size is too small to draw definitive conclusions. Both have perfect 5/5 ratings. Deeper analysis of individual reviews and merchant needs are more critical for decision-making.
What are the limitations of each app?
AI Virtual Try-On is limited to clothing and requires high-quality user selfies for optimal results. Premium AR/3D Viewer is limited by the availability of accurate 3D models and the compatibility of the 'glb' format. Also the AR capability is dependent on the customers device.
