Airfields vs Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGCfor Shopify (2026)
Airfields and Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC both fall under the 'Content' category on Shopify, but address vastly different needs. Airfields focuses on extending a store's data structure through advanced metafields, allowing merchants to add and manage custom data types like extra images and videos directly within their existing themes. It emphasizes ease of use through its Polaris-based interface, aiming to provide a seamless, native Shopify experience. Its strength lies in enhancing product information and content management for existing store layouts. Lyve, on the other hand, is a video commerce platform centered on leveraging video content to drive sales and engagement. Lyve targets merchants aiming to improve discovery and conversions by incorporating shoppable videos, user-generated content, and livestream events across various channels, including the store, Shop App, emails, and SMS. Its key differentiators are its ability to integrate content from platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, and its AI-powered personalized video feeds. While Airfields enriches the existing storefront through structured data, Lyve transforms the customer experience through dynamic, engaging video content.

Our Verdict
Airfields is the better choice for merchants who need to extend their store's existing data structure and content management capabilities. If you're looking to add highly specific data points to products, collections, or other areas of your store, and you want a tool that seamlessly integrates with the Shopify admin, Airfields is a strong option. The secure data storage within Shopify is also a significant advantage.
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC is the preferable choice for merchants aiming to leverage video content to boost sales, engagement, and customer discovery. If your strategy heavily relies on video marketing and utilizing platforms like TikTok and YouTube, Lyve offers a comprehensive platform for shoppable videos, livestream events, and personalized video feeds. The higher number of reviews also suggests a broader user base and more robust community support. A merchant using video in 2026 really needs to consider an app like Lyve.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to learn and use?
Airfields, with its Polaris-based interface, is likely easier to learn for merchants already familiar with Shopify's admin. Lyve, while aiming for ease of integration, might have a steeper learning curve related to video production and platform features.
Which app is better for SEO?
Both apps can indirectly improve SEO. Airfields, by allowing for more detailed product descriptions and data, can contribute to better on-page SEO. Lyve, through engaging video content, can increase time on site and reduce bounce rate, both of which are positive SEO signals.
Which app is more focused on increasing sales?
Lyve: Shoppable Video & UGC is explicitly designed to increase sales through shoppable videos, livestream events, and personalized video feeds with integrated checkout. While Airfields indirectly supports sales by improving product information, its primary focus is not direct sales conversion.
Which app stores data outside of Shopify?
Airfields explicitly states that all data is stored securely in Shopify. Lyve, by integrating with platforms like TikTok and YouTube, likely uses their APIs and may not store all video content directly within Shopify. Lyve might store metadata within Shopify, but the video files would remain on the original platforms.
Does Airfields allow embedding shoppable videos?
While Airfields allows adding videos to product pages using metafields, it doesn't inherently make them 'shoppable'. You would need to add custom code or integrate with other apps to enable in-video checkout. Lyve, in contrast, is specifically designed for shoppable video experiences.
