AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block vs BuyerCheckfor Shopify (2026)
AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block and BuyerCheck both address fraud prevention on Shopify stores, but they target different types of threats and utilize distinct approaches. AirLock focuses on blocking unwanted visitors at the IP and country level, offering merchants control over who can access their site. It boasts a 5/5 rating with 4 reviews and highlights features such as AI-enhanced blocking, real-time visitor logs, and, crucially, Shopify Plus exclusive checkout blocking. BuyerCheck, on the other hand, zeroes in on reducing losses from failed Cash on Delivery (COD) orders, analyzing customer behavior with AI to predict risk. The fundamental difference lies in their problem-solving approach. AirLock is proactive, preventing access based on location or IP, whereas BuyerCheck is reactive, analyzing order data to flag potentially fraudulent COD orders. AirLock empowers merchants to block specific actors, while BuyerCheck provides insights into order risk and allows for automated adjustments to checkout options like disabling COD. Furthermore, AirLock highlights store speed optimization and detailed visitor logs, providing more visibility into incoming traffic which BuyerCheck does not mention.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with international fraud, bot traffic, or targeted attacks, AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block appears to be the stronger option. The ability to block countries and specific IPs, coupled with AI-enhanced detection and visitor logs, offers more direct control and visibility. The Shopify Plus checkout blocking feature is also a significant advantage.
However, for merchants facing significant losses due to failed Cash on Delivery orders, BuyerCheck could be the more valuable solution. The AI-driven risk assessment and ability to automatically disable COD for risky orders can directly address this specific pain point. The lack of reviews is concerning, so thorough due diligence is recommended before committing to BuyerCheck. If COD fraud is minimal, AirLock's broader protection might be more beneficial.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Without hands-on testing, it's difficult to definitively say. AirLock's description suggests straightforward IP and country blocking configuration. BuyerCheck's AI-driven system might require some initial data gathering before becoming fully effective.
Which app offers more comprehensive fraud protection?
AirLock offers broader protection against unwanted traffic by blocking IP addresses and countries, regardless of payment method. BuyerCheck is more targeted, specifically addressing COD fraud.
Can these apps be used together?
Potentially, yes. AirLock could block unwanted traffic at the gate, while BuyerCheck could analyze remaining orders to flag potentially fraudulent COD attempts. However, compatibility and potential conflicts would need to be tested.
Which app is better for a store shipping primarily within one country?
BuyerCheck might be more relevant for a store shipping primarily within one country, as it focuses on COD fraud, which isn't necessarily geographically limited. AirLock could still be useful for blocking specific IP addresses or bot activity, but its country-blocking feature would be less impactful.
What is the biggest risk with each app?
With AirLock, the biggest risk is potentially blocking legitimate customers if the AI or manual blocking rules are too aggressive. With BuyerCheck, the biggest risk is the potential for false positives, which could result in denying COD to legitimate customers or requiring prepayment unnecessarily.
