AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block vs OneGuard Age / ID Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Both AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block and OneGuard Age / ID Verification are Shopify apps positioned in the 'Fraud' category, aiming to protect merchants. However, they address fundamentally different types of threats. AirLock focuses on preventing malicious traffic and attacks based on IP address and geographic location. It allows merchants to block specific IPs or entire countries, potentially mitigating bot attacks, spam, or unwanted access. AirLock offers Shopify Plus merchants exclusive Checkout UI blocking features, indicating a focus on enterprise-level protection at a critical stage of the customer journey. OneGuard Age / ID Verification, on the other hand, centers on verifying the age and identity of customers, particularly after checkout. This is crucial for merchants selling age-restricted products who need to comply with legal requirements. The app's strength lies in its global document support (over 200 countries) and real-time verification capabilities. By placing orders of unverified customers on hold, OneGuard reduces the risk of non-compliance and associated legal repercussions. While both aim to protect merchants, their methods and target audiences diverge significantly. One uses IP blocking, the other uses ID verification.
