AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block vs Subunofor Shopify (2026)
Both AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block and Subuno are fraud prevention apps for Shopify, each boasting a perfect 5/5 rating from 4 reviews. However, they take fundamentally different approaches. AirLock focuses on preventative measures by blocking unwanted visitors based on IP address and geographic location. It's about proactively denying access. Subuno, in contrast, is a reactive system that analyzes orders for fraud after they've been placed, flagging suspicious transactions based on customizable rules and integrated data analytics. AirLock's strength lies in its simplicity and direct control over who can access a store, potentially preventing various malicious activities beyond just fraud, such as scraping or bot attacks. Its key features are IP/Country blocking, AI-enhanced detection, and real-time visitor logs. A notable advantage is the Shopify Plus Checkout UI blocking feature, enabling advanced threat prevention. Subuno, on the other hand, is tailored for merchants who want granular control over order screening, with its rule-based engine, manual review tools, and integration with third-party data providers. It's a good choice for businesses experiencing significant credit card fraud and needing comprehensive fraud analysis. Ultimately, the choice between AirLock and Subuno depends on the merchant's needs. AirLock is a preventative measure focusing on access control, while Subuno is a reactive system analyzing orders for fraud after they've been placed.

Our Verdict
If a merchant's primary concern is preventing access from specific countries or IP addresses, or if they are a Shopify Plus user and want to protect their checkout process at the source, AirLock is the superior choice. Its proactive blocking capabilities provide a basic level of protection that is easy to manage. For merchants struggling with high chargeback rates and needing detailed fraud analysis and customization, Subuno is the better solution. Its robust rule-based engine and integration with third-party tools offer a comprehensive approach to combating credit card fraud, although it requires more setup and ongoing monitoring. A merchant could potentially benefit from using both in conjunction for a layered security approach.
Common Questions
Which app is better for Shopify Plus users?
AirLock's Shopify Plus Checkout UI Blocking feature gives it a distinct advantage for Shopify Plus users seeking enhanced checkout protection.
Which app is easier to use?
Based on the descriptions, AirLock seems simpler to set up, as it focuses on blocking countries and IPs. Subuno, with its rule-based engine and third-party integrations, likely requires more configuration.
Does AirLock protect against credit card fraud directly?
While AirLock's IP and country blocking can indirectly prevent some fraudulent transactions by blocking known fraudsters, it primarily focuses on controlling access, not on analyzing order data for fraud signals.
Can Subuno block specific countries?
The description of Subuno does not explicitly mention country blocking as a standard feature. It focuses on fraud analysis based on order characteristics.
If I only have a few instances of fraud, which app is best?
For infrequent fraud attempts, AirLock's IP/Country blocking might be sufficient to deter opportunistic fraudsters. Subuno would be overkill unless fraud becomes a significant problem.
