AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block vs Verifly ID Verification & KYCfor Shopify (2026)
AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block and Verifly ID Verification & KYC are both Shopify apps targeting the 'Fraud' category, but they address distinctly different aspects of fraud prevention. AirLock focuses on preventing access from unwanted visitors using IP and country blocking, effectively acting as a gatekeeper to the store. Its key selling points include IP and country blocking, AI-enhanced detection, real-time visitor logs, and minimal impact on store speed, with exclusive checkout UI blocking features for Shopify Plus users. Verifly ID Verification & KYC, on the other hand, focuses on verifying the identity of users, likely for compliance or risk management purposes. The lack of reviews and ratings for Verifly, however, makes it difficult to assess its performance and reliability compared to AirLock, which boasts a perfect 5-star rating despite having only 4 reviews. Verifly's target merchant is likely one dealing with higher-risk transactions or requiring stringent KYC (Know Your Customer) compliance, while Airlock is more broadly appealing for merchants looking to prevent bot traffic and malicious access.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with preventing bot traffic, blocking access from specific countries, and maintaining optimal store speed, AirLock ‑ GeoShield & IP Block is the clear choice, particularly if they are on Shopify Plus and can leverage the Checkout UI blocking feature. The positive, albeit limited, review base also adds confidence. However, for merchants operating in industries requiring Know Your Customer (KYC) compliance or those dealing with high-risk transactions where verifying user identity is crucial, Verifly ID Verification & KYC *might* be a suitable option – but the lack of reviews and information makes it a risky choice and requires further investigation. Given the limited data on Verifly, caution is advised until more information, reviews, and potentially a trial period can be thoroughly examined.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up and use?
Based on the descriptions, AirLock is likely easier to set up due to the relatively straightforward nature of IP and country blocking. Verifly's KYC process could involve more complex configurations and legal considerations.
Which app offers better protection against fraudulent orders?
Both apps contribute to fraud prevention, but in different ways. AirLock blocks access, preventing potentially fraudulent users from even reaching the store. Verifly attempts to verify the legitimacy of the user placing the order. Therefore, AirLock is more preventative, while Verifly is reactive.
Is either app GDPR compliant?
Neither app description explicitly mentions GDPR compliance. Merchants should carefully review each app's privacy policy and data handling practices to ensure compliance before installation.
Which app is better for merchants selling internationally?
AirLock can be useful for blocking traffic from countries where the merchant does not operate or suspects high levels of fraudulent activity. Verifly might be useful if international customers require KYC verification. The choice depends on the specific fraud prevention strategy.
Which app is more suitable for Shopify Plus users?
AirLock explicitly mentions a Shopify Plus exclusive feature (Checkout UI Blocking), making it a more compelling option for Plus users. Verifly lacks any specific Shopify Plus integrations mentioned in its description.
