Airwallex Fraud Protection vs Chargeback Specialistfor Shopify (2026)
Airwallex Fraud Protection and Chargeback Specialist both aim to combat fraud for Shopify merchants, but they approach the problem from different angles. Airwallex focuses on preventing fraudulent transactions *before* they happen using an AI-powered fraud engine trained on a large network of transactions. They emphasize security and payment success rates. Chargeback Specialist, on the other hand, is geared towards *recovering revenue* lost to unfair chargebacks and disputes. They combine AI automation with human review to create strong dispute responses. Airwallex targets a broad range of businesses needing proactive fraud prevention, positioning itself as a secure and reliable solution. Chargeback Specialist specifically targets fast-growing eCommerce brands and high-volume stores that likely face a significant number of chargebacks. The key differentiator lies in their proactive vs. reactive approach: Airwallex prevents fraudulent transactions, while Chargeback Specialist helps recover lost revenue from already-occurred chargebacks. The reviews also indicate Chargeback Specialist might be easier to use with a claim of one-click activation versus the Airwallex lack of ease of use information.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with proactively preventing fraudulent transactions and optimizing payment success rates, Airwallex Fraud Protection might be a suitable option. However, the limited number of reviews and lower rating compared to Chargeback Specialist should warrant caution. Businesses already experiencing a high volume of chargebacks and fraudulent disputes, and seeking to recover lost revenue, would likely find Chargeback Specialist a more appealing choice. The human oversight and ease of use claim provide additional value.
Ultimately, the best choice depends on the specific needs and priorities of the merchant. If fraud prevention is paramount and security certifications are a key requirement, Airwallex might be considered. If recovering revenue from existing chargebacks and minimizing manual work is the priority, Chargeback Specialist appears to be the stronger option, especially considering the higher rating and positive reviews.
