Akeans Upload Hike vs Magical Custom Fields & Uploadfor Shopify (2026)
Akeans Upload Hike and Magical Custom Fields & Upload both aim to enhance Shopify stores with custom file upload capabilities. However, they differ significantly in their current standing and feature sets. Magical Custom Fields & Upload boasts a strong reputation with a 5/5 rating based on 61 reviews, indicating user satisfaction. It focuses on providing a comprehensive suite of custom field options, including file uploads, text boxes, and checkboxes, applicable across products, variants, and collections. Akeans Upload Hike, on the other hand, lacks any reviews or ratings, presenting a higher risk for merchants due to the absence of social proof. Its focus appears to be solely on file uploads across various store locations like product pages, contact forms, carts, and registration pages, with features like image editing and specific file type validation. Magical Custom Fields & Upload positions itself as a more versatile solution for merchants seeking a wide array of customization options beyond just file uploads, specifically targeting those needing to personalize product options and potentially those with Shopify Plus using checkout custom fields. The app emphasizes ease of order fulfillment and increased sales through upsells. Akeans Upload Hike seems geared towards merchants whose primary need is direct file uploading from customers, with specific controls over file types and image manipulation. The lack of reviews makes it difficult to assess its usability and reliability compared to the well-reviewed Magical Custom Fields & Upload.

Our Verdict
For merchants seeking a proven and versatile solution with a range of custom field options and integration with Shopify Plus checkout customization, Magical Custom Fields & Upload is the clear choice. The positive reviews and comprehensive feature set provide a strong indication of reliability and value. It is particularly suitable for businesses looking to personalize orders, collect detailed customer information, and implement upsell strategies.
Akeans Upload Hike, while promising, carries significant risk due to the absence of reviews. It might be suitable for stores with a very specific and narrow need for direct file uploads and image manipulation features, and where the merchant is willing to take a risk on an unproven app. However, until it garners positive reviews and demonstrates its reliability, Magical Custom Fields & Upload is the safer and more recommended option for most Shopify merchants in 2026.
