Alerty: Alerts for Google Chat vs Notifications by Modd Appsfor Shopify (2026)
Alerty: Alerts for Google Chat and Notifications by Modd Apps both aim to enhance staff notifications on Shopify, but they cater to vastly different needs and offer contrasting approaches. Alerty focuses on simple, real-time notifications within Google Chat, designed for merchants who want immediate updates on orders and abandoned carts. It positions itself as an easy-to-setup solution for staying informed about store activity directly within their existing communication platform. Notifications by Modd Apps, on the other hand, is a powerful and flexible platform for automating complex workflows and communications based on a wide array of Shopify events. It goes beyond simple notifications, enabling merchants to send custom emails, manage tags, update metafields, and even transfer files based on intricate rules and conditions. The core difference lies in complexity and scope. Alerty offers a focused solution with limited customization, ideal for smaller businesses or those prioritizing immediate, streamlined alerts in Google Chat. Notifications by Modd Apps is a comprehensive automation tool suitable for larger businesses or those with complex fulfillment processes, vendor management, or customer segmentation strategies. It demands a deeper understanding of Shopify's data model and potentially some proficiency in Liquid templating.
