Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing deep customization and control over their alt text generation, SEO HERO AI Alt Text Generator appears to be the stronger choice, especially for those operating multilingual stores. The ability to use custom prompts and templates provides significant flexibility. However, for merchants seeking a more hands-off, automated solution powered by Open AI that emphasizes compliance with various accessibility standards, ALT SEO AI Alt Text Generator may be more suitable. While ALT SEO has a slightly higher rating, SEO HERO benefits from more user reviews, suggesting a broader user base and more real-world testing.
Common Questions
Which app is better for a non-technical user?
ALT SEO, with its focus on seamless, automated background processing, might be easier to use for non-technical users. SEO HERO's customization options may require more familiarity with SEO and brand voice nuances.
Which app offers better accessibility compliance?
Both apps address accessibility. ALT SEO specifically mentions ADA, EAA, and WCAG compliance, making it potentially a better choice for merchants prioritizing adherence to those standards. SEO HERO focuses on detecting and fixing missing alt text.
Which app is more suited for a large product catalog?
Both apps offer bulk processing capabilities. SEO HERO explicitly mentions saving 40+ hours monthly, suggesting it might be optimized for larger catalogs, but this is not directly comparable to any such statement about ALT SEO's time saving abilities.
What is the key difference in AI approach?
ALT SEO utilizes Open AI, a well-known and respected AI model. SEO HERO uses a proprietary "Secret Recipe" technology, making it harder to assess its capabilities relative to the more transparent Open AI.

SEO HERO explicitly supports multiple languages, making it the clear winner for international stores.
