Amazon MCF and Buy with Prime vs Shopify Fulfillment Networkfor Shopify (2026)
In 2026, Shopify merchants choosing a third-party logistics (3PL) app must weigh the benefits of Amazon's integrated ecosystem (Amazon MCF and Buy with Prime) against the flexibility of the Shopify Fulfillment Network. Amazon MCF appeals to merchants already leveraging Amazon's infrastructure for inventory and fulfillment, offering streamlined logistics directly within Shopify. Buy with Prime (US only) is a powerful conversion booster, allowing merchants to capitalize on Amazon's trusted brand and fast delivery. However, it locks merchants into the Amazon ecosystem. The Shopify Fulfillment Network provides a broader choice of fulfillment partners, giving merchants more control and potentially more tailored solutions. The core difference lies in control and ecosystem preference. Amazon MCF simplifies fulfillment for businesses already using Amazon's services and seeking to integrate Buy with Prime. The Shopify Fulfillment Network, conversely, caters to merchants who want a wider range of options and prefer to manage their fulfillment strategy with more flexibility. While Shopify Fulfillment Network boasts seamless integration, its effectiveness depends on the chosen third-party logistics provider. Amazon MCF's success hinges on Amazon's fulfillment capabilities and the appeal of Buy with Prime to their target market.

Our Verdict
If you're already selling on Amazon and utilizing their fulfillment services, and you primarily target US customers, Amazon MCF with Buy with Prime is a compelling option to boost conversions and streamline logistics. The built-in Buy with Prime functionality offers a significant competitive advantage. However, if you prefer more control over your fulfillment process, want to avoid being locked into the Amazon ecosystem, or need specific fulfillment capabilities not offered by Amazon, the Shopify Fulfillment Network offers greater flexibility and a broader range of 3PL partners to choose from. It is essential to thoroughly research and compare the available 3PL providers in the Shopify Fulfillment Network before committing.
Common Questions
Which app offers faster delivery times?
Both apps advertise fast delivery, but the actual delivery speed depends on factors such as warehouse location and shipping distance. Amazon MCF emphasizes "fast and reliable delivery", while Shopify Fulfillment Network touts "reliable 2- and 3-day delivery". The best option will depend on your customers locations and the partners within Shopify's network.
Which app is more expensive?
Determining the exact cost is difficult without knowing specific order volumes and product characteristics. Both apps involve fulfillment fees. Amazon MCF's pricing is determined by Amazon. The Shopify Fulfillment Network's costs depend on the chosen 3PL provider and negotiated rates. A thorough cost analysis is crucial for both options.
Which app is easier to set up and manage?
Amazon MCF and Buy with Prime promises seamless integration with Shopify if you have products already listed on Amazon. The Shopify Fulfillment Network's ease of use depends on the chosen 3PL partner and their level of integration with Shopify. Both apps claim easy installation, but ongoing management might vary depending on the complexity of your inventory and order volume.
Does Buy with Prime work outside the US?
Currently, Buy with Prime is only available in the US. If you have a significant international customer base, the Shopify Fulfillment Network may offer better global fulfillment options through its various partners.
What if I want to use both Amazon MCF and other fulfillment providers?
It is technically possible to use both Amazon MCF and other fulfillment providers, including those in the Shopify Fulfillment Network. This would require careful inventory management and order routing to ensure orders are fulfilled efficiently. Consider using an order management system (OMS) to orchestrate order fulfillment across different providers.
