Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with capturing sales from temporarily unavailable products and offering pre-orders, AMP Back in Stock | PreOrder is the better choice. Its focus on customer communication and branded experiences can help retain customers and drive revenue. The larger number of reviews suggests broader adoption and potentially more established functionality.
However, if the main goal is to prevent stockouts through automated alerts to internal staff, iAlert ‑ Low Stock Alert is more suitable. The ability to configure location-based rules and adjust inventory calculations caters to more complex inventory management needs. It is better suited for larger operations that need to track stock across multiple locations and types.
Common Questions

It depends on the business need. If customer retention and capturing potential sales are paramount, AMP Back in Stock | PreOrder is likely more impactful. If the focus is on avoiding stockouts due to poor inventory visibility, iAlert might be a better initial investment.
Does AMP Back in Stock | PreOrder offer inventory management features?
While it provides 'Smart Restock & Preorder Insights,' its primary function is customer notification, not comprehensive inventory management. It helps inform restocking decisions but doesn't replace dedicated inventory software.
Can iAlert ‑ Low Stock Alert notify customers when items are back in stock?
Based on the provided description, iAlert ‑ Low Stock Alert is designed for internal notifications to staff, not external notifications to customers.
Which app is easier to use?
While ease of use isn't explicitly stated for either app, the description of AMP Back in Stock | PreOrder implies a simpler setup ('add Back in Stock alerts in minutes'), potentially making it more accessible for less technical users. iAlert may require more configuration to set up rules.
What types of businesses would benefit most from each app?
AMP Back in Stock | PreOrder is best for businesses selling products that frequently go out of stock or that introduce new products via pre-order. iAlert ‑ Low Stock Alert is ideal for businesses with more complex inventory needs across multiple locations or with variable inventory calculation methods.
