Ample ‑ Sustainable Impact vs Recurpay: Subscriptions appfor Shopify (2026)
Ample ‑ Sustainable Impact and Recurpay: Subscriptions app, while both sharing the 'Customer loyalty' category on Shopify, cater to vastly different merchant needs. Ample focuses on integrating sustainability and social impact into the shopping experience, targeting businesses that prioritize environmental and social responsibility and want to engage customers through impactful giving. Key features include planet-positive checkout options, impact tracking, and personalized customer dashboards to showcase the results of their purchases. Recurpay, on the other hand, is designed for merchants looking to build recurring revenue streams through subscriptions. Its strength lies in subscription management, customer self-service through a dedicated portal, and robust 24/7 human support. The primary difference lies in their core value proposition. Ample aims to enhance customer loyalty by aligning with their values and promoting social good, while Recurpay focuses on generating predictable revenue through subscription models. While both can improve customer loyalty, they achieve this through completely different mechanisms. Ample requires merchants to actively select value-aligned projects, while Recurpay demands focus on product delivery, fulfillment and customer satisfaction for ongoing subscriptions. The target audiences are therefore distinctly separate: environmentally conscious brands versus businesses seeking subscription-based income.

Our Verdict
The choice between Ample ‑ Sustainable Impact and Recurpay: Subscriptions app depends entirely on your business goals. If your brand emphasizes environmental responsibility and you want to deepen customer engagement by allowing them to contribute to positive change with each purchase, Ample is the clear choice. However, if your primary goal is to establish a consistent revenue stream through subscriptions and provide customers with easy subscription management tools, Recurpay is the more suitable option.
Given the significantly higher number of reviews, Recurpay has demonstrated greater market adoption and likely offers a more mature feature set for subscription management. Ample, with its limited review count, presents a riskier but potentially more rewarding option for brands highly committed to sustainability.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Ample might offer a slightly simpler initial setup, as it primarily involves selecting projects to support. Recurpay, with its widget design and subscription plan configuration, could be more complex to implement.
Can both apps be used together?
Technically, yes. However, they address different aspects of the customer experience. Using both would require careful consideration of how they interact and complement each other. It may be redundant and could lead to a confusing checkout experience.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
It depends on the new store's core value proposition. If sustainability is a central tenet, Ample could be a differentiator from the start. If the business model inherently lends itself to subscriptions, Recurpay is likely the better choice.
Which app has better customer support?
Recurpay explicitly advertises '24/7 live human support,' giving it a clear advantage in customer support over Ample, which doesn't mention specific support options.
Does Ample directly increase revenue?
Ample aims to increase conversions and customer loyalty by appealing to values, which can indirectly lead to higher revenue. Recurpay directly creates recurring revenue through subscriptions.
