Amplius Customer Fields vs Wholesale Lock Manager: B2Bfor Shopify (2026)
Amplius Customer Fields and Wholesale Lock Manager: B2B both address account-related functionality on Shopify, but cater to distinct merchant needs. Amplius focuses on enriching customer profiles by enabling merchants to collect custom data directly on registration and account pages. It emphasizes data ownership and integration with Shopify's metafields system for personalization. Conversely, Wholesale Lock Manager: B2B is tailored towards wholesale and B2B businesses needing to control access to specific content like products, pricing, and pages based on customer groups or login status. It prioritizes security and content restriction for differentiated customer experiences. The primary difference lies in their core functionality. Amplius enhances data collection to personalize the customer journey, while Wholesale Lock Manager restricts access and content to manage wholesale/retail distinctions. Merchants choosing between the two should consider their primary need: deeper customer profiling for personalization or robust access control for B2B/wholesale operations. While both apps appear in the 'Accounts and login' category, they solve completely different problems around managing customer accounts.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on gathering detailed customer information for personalization and enhanced customer service, Amplius Customer Fields is the clear choice. Its direct integration with Shopify metafields ensures data ownership and seamless integration with other apps. However, for businesses operating with wholesale or B2B components, Wholesale Lock Manager: B2B offers a more suitable solution. Its ability to restrict access to specific products, pricing, and content based on customer groups provides the necessary control for managing differentiated customer experiences and secure wholesale operations.
While Amplius may be easier to implement initially, the extensive functionality of Wholesale Lock Manager for B2B is essential for that niche. If a merchant's requirements lie solely in enhanced customer data, Amplius is preferred. However, for content restriction and B2B management, Wholesale Lock Manager is far more appropriate.
Common Questions

Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but their functionality overlaps only minimally. You could use Amplius to gather customer preferences and Wholesale Lock Manager: B2B to restrict certain content. Ensure their functions don't interfere with each other, though.
Which app offers better data security?
