AntiCopy:Prevent Content Theft vs Geolocation & Markets—Selectyfor Shopify (2026)
AntiCopy:Prevent Content Theft and Geolocation & Markets—Selecty are two Shopify apps serving very different purposes, despite sharing the Geolocation category. AntiCopy focuses on protecting a merchant's intellectual property by preventing content theft through measures like disabling right-click, keyboard shortcuts, and text selection, as well as broader protections like country-specific blocks. It also offers additional features such as hiding Shopify branding and adding compliance banners. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, in contrast, is geared towards international expansion and improving the customer experience for global audiences. It enables features like currency and language selectors, market geolocation recommendations, and automatic redirects based on IP address or browser language. The app helps merchants who are selling globally or planning to expand their reach to international markets. The user reviews and ratings suggest a significant difference in perceived value and reliability between the two apps. The significantly higher review count and rating of Selecty point towards a more mature and well-received app. AntiCopy appears to cater to merchants highly concerned about content theft and looking for a suite of basic website protections. Selecty is designed for merchants expanding into new markets who need to optimize the global customer experience.

Our Verdict
For merchants primarily focused on safeguarding their website content and basic security features, AntiCopy:Prevent Content Theft might be a suitable choice, although the low review count raises concerns about its reliability and effectiveness compared to other apps in the Shopify store. It offers a quick solution to prevent content theft, disable right-clicking, and remove unwanted Shopify badges. However, the low rating should be considered.
Geolocation & Markets—Selecty is the clear winner for merchants aiming to expand internationally and optimize their store for different markets. The high rating and numerous reviews indicate a reliable and effective solution for geolocation, currency conversion, and language adaptation. If your goal is to attract and retain customers from around the world, Selecty is the better investment.
Common Questions
Is AntiCopy suitable for preventing all forms of content theft?
AntiCopy provides some basic prevention of content theft by disabling right-clicking, preventing text selection and limiting keyboard shortcuts. It will not stop determined users from obtaining the content by other means (e.g. screenshotting, inspecting the page source).
Does Geolocation & Markets—Selecty work with all Shopify themes?
While the description doesn't explicitly state theme compatibility, apps in the Geolocation category are generally designed to integrate with most themes. It's always recommended to check their support documentation or contact the developers directly to confirm compatibility with your specific theme.
Can AntiCopy block bots from scraping my website content?
AntiCopy's features like disabling right-click and text selection are unlikely to prevent sophisticated bots from scraping content. Its country-blocking feature *could* prevent bots based in certain countries, but many bots use proxies to mask their location.
Is Geolocation & Markets—Selecty only for Shopify Markets users?
No, while it enhances Shopify Markets and Global-e Managed Markets, it also works independently to provide geolocation features like currency and language selection on any Shopify store, helping to serve international customers even if not using Shopify Markets.
Which app is easier to set up and use?
AntiCopy is likely easier to set up, as it primarily involves enabling or disabling simple settings like right-click prevention. Geolocation & Markets—Selecty, on the other hand, requires more configuration to set up currency, language, and market-specific settings, potentially requiring more technical knowledge or support.
