Our Verdict
If your primary goal is to increase average order value by encouraging customers to buy more items in a single purchase through attractive bundles and volume discounts, AOV Bundles Volume Discounts is the better choice. Its AI-powered recommendations and ease of use make it suitable for merchants of all sizes looking for a quick and effective sales boost.
However, if you're building or scaling a subscription-based business and need a robust platform to manage subscribers, reduce churn, and increase lifetime value, Skio Subscriptions is the superior option. Its focus on subscriber experience, automated journeys, and seamless migration makes it an ideal solution for brands serious about recurring revenue and customer retention. While both apps technically fall under 'Upsell and Cross-sell,' Skio's core functionality extends far beyond a simple upsell tactic, making it a specialized tool for subscription businesses.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
AOV Bundles Volume Discounts is likely easier to set up due to its 'no coding required' claim and focus on launching quickly with AI recommendations. Skio involves more complex subscription setup potentially requiring more configuration.
Which app is better for a new Shopify store?
AOV Bundles Volume Discounts is probably a better starting point for a new store. Focusing on AOV early can help establish a baseline revenue and customer behavior before implementing subscriptions.
Can I use both apps together?
Potentially, but it might be redundant. If you have a subscription product alongside regular products, AOV Bundles could be used to bundle non-subscription items. However, Skio's build-a-box functionality might make AOV Bundles unnecessary.
Which app offers better customer support?
AOV Bundles explicitly mentions 24/7 support, which suggests a strong commitment to customer assistance. Skio does not mention support availability in the description, though their emphasis on customer experience implies a focus on support.
Which app is more suitable for a store selling physical products vs digital products?
While both could work, AOV Bundles may be slightly more suited to physical products, where bundling makes intuitive sense. Skio can also support digital subscriptions, but bundling isn't always a natural fit in that space.
