Apex Cart Progress Bar vs EG Auto Add to Cart Free Giftfor Shopify (2026)
Apex Cart Progress Bar and EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift both aim to increase average order value on Shopify stores, but they approach this goal through different mechanisms. Apex Cart Progress Bar focuses on creating a tiered progress bar to incentivize customers to reach higher spending thresholds. It offers fixed or percentage discounts, free shipping, or gifts, all displayed visually to the shopper. This approach is ideal for merchants seeking to clearly communicate spending incentives and offer a structured discount system. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift, on the other hand, centers around automatically adding free gifts to the cart based on pre-defined rules. It excels at BOGO and Buy X Get Y offers, allowing merchants to create dynamic promotions that are automatically applied. This app is more suited to stores that want to offer surprise bonuses or run complex promotional campaigns that automatically execute in the background. It prioritizes automation and less visual display of promotions compared to Apex Cart Progress Bar. EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift also seems to focus more on the 'gift' aspect, whereas Apex focuses on a variety of incentives including discounts and shipping.

Our Verdict
For Shopify merchants wanting to visually guide customers towards higher spending thresholds with a progress bar and clear discount tiers, Apex Cart Progress Bar is the better choice. The focus on design customization also makes it appealing to brands prioritizing aesthetics. However, for merchants seeking a hands-off approach with automated BOGO and Buy X Get Y offers, or those primarily interested in free gift promotions without the visual element of a progress bar, EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift stands out due to its superior rating, larger number of reviews, and core functionality centered on automating free gift additions. The scheduling feature for campaigns in EG Auto Add to Cart Free Gift is a particularly strong selling point.
