AppsByB: Backup & Restore vs Catalog Copilotfor Shopify (2026)
AppsByB: Backup & Restore and Catalog Copilot are both Shopify apps falling under the 'Operations - Other' category, but they serve very different purposes. AppsByB focuses on data security and store management, providing backup, restore, and synchronization capabilities across multiple stores. It aims to protect merchants from data loss due to errors or failed updates and streamlines managing products and content across different Shopify environments. The target audience appears to be merchants concerned with data integrity and those operating multiple Shopify stores who need to keep product information consistent. Catalog Copilot, on the other hand, is centered around catalog health and optimization. Catalog Copilot is designed to help merchants identify and rectify errors within their product catalog, focusing on issues like missing data, SEO deficiencies, and incorrect discount applications. It aims to improve the overall quality and accuracy of the product catalog, which could lead to better search rankings, improved customer experience, and increased sales. The target audience here seems to be merchants struggling with maintaining a clean and accurate product catalog, especially those with large or complex catalogs who may find it challenging to manually audit their listings. While AppsByB offers data protection and multi-store management, Catalog Copilot provides tools for product catalog optimization and error resolution.

Our Verdict
Choosing between AppsByB: Backup & Restore and Catalog Copilot depends heavily on the specific needs of the merchant. If the primary concern is data security and the ability to restore the store in case of accidental data loss or errors, AppsByB: Backup & Restore is the clear choice. It's also the better option for merchants managing multiple Shopify stores who need to keep their product information synchronized. The existing positive reviews, while few, also add some confidence.
Catalog Copilot is valuable for merchants struggling with maintaining a clean and optimized product catalog. If a merchant suspects errors in their product listings, wants to improve SEO, or needs to audit discounts, Catalog Copilot offers a focused solution. However, the lack of reviews and a zero rating should be considered before installation, especially if the AppsByB's higher rating indicates more users trusting its use.
