AppsByB: Backup & Restore vs Flow Loggerfor Shopify (2026)
AppsByB: Backup & Restore and Flow Logger cater to vastly different needs within the Shopify ecosystem. AppsByB focuses on data security and multi-store management, providing tools for backing up store data, scheduling backups, and syncing information across multiple Shopify instances. This positions it as a solution for merchants prioritizing data protection and efficiency in managing multiple storefronts. Flow Logger, conversely, centers on workflow visibility and debugging, enabling merchants to log events and errors within their Shopify Flows and external integrations. The primary distinction lies in their core functionalities. AppsByB offers concrete features like data backup and cross-store syncing, enabling merchants to actively secure and manage their store data. Flow Logger, on the other hand, provides a logging framework that requires merchants to actively integrate its logging action into their existing Shopify Flows. While both fall under 'Operations - Other' in the Shopify app store, their practical applications are distinct: AppsByB offers tangible features for data management, while Flow Logger provides a framework for debugging and monitoring workflows.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing data security and streamlining operations across multiple stores, AppsByB: Backup & Restore is the more suitable choice. Its focus on backing up and syncing data offers tangible benefits in protecting against data loss and simplifying store management. The positive, albeit limited, reviews also suggest a functional product.
Conversely, Flow Logger is a better fit for merchants deeply invested in Shopify Flows and external integrations who require granular visibility into their automated processes. However, the lack of reviews and the necessity for active integration within flows mean that merchants should be prepared for a potentially steeper learning curve and more hands-on implementation. In short, choose AppsByB for backup & multi-store needs and Flow Logger for detailed workflow monitoring if you are already using many Flows.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to use?
AppsByB: Backup & Restore is likely easier to use for basic functionalities like setting up backup schedules. Flow Logger requires a deeper understanding of Shopify Flows and its API, making it potentially more complex for non-technical users.
What if I need both data backup and workflow logging?
These apps solve different problems, so it's entirely possible to use both. AppsByB will back up your store, and Flow Logger will help you monitor your automated processes. They are complementary, not mutually exclusive.
Does AppsByB back up my Shopify Flows?
While AppsByB backs up store data, including potentially data related to Flows, it does not specifically target Flows for logging or debugging purposes like Flow Logger does. AppsByB is focused on data preservation, not operational monitoring.
Is Flow Logger a replacement for standard Shopify error logs?
Flow Logger provides more granular and customizable logging than standard Shopify error logs. It allows you to track specific events and data points within your Flows and external integrations, giving you a more detailed view of your workflows.
Given the limited reviews, should I trust either app?
The low number of reviews for both apps is a factor to consider. With AppsByB's perfect rating, it would be worth testing the free trial (if offered). Flow Logger's lack of reviews warrants caution. Thoroughly research their support documentation and possibly contact their developers with questions before committing.
