appstronaut: ComingSoon Pages vs Section Star: Theme Sectionsfor Shopify (2026)
appstronaut: ComingSoon Pages and Section Star: Theme Sections are both page builder apps, but they cater to distinctly different needs. appstronaut focuses specifically on creating 'coming soon' pages to generate pre-launch excitement and capture email addresses. Its strength lies in its ease of use with a drag-and-drop interface and pre-designed templates. It's aimed at merchants preparing to launch a new store or product and wanting to build anticipation. In contrast, Section Star: Theme Sections provides a broader solution for enhancing existing Shopify themes with professionally designed sections. It empowers merchants to upgrade their store's design and functionality without coding, using customizable ready-made sections. The key difference lies in their scope. appstronaut provides a single-purpose solution, excelling at pre-launch email capture and countdown functionality. Section Star, on the other hand, offers a versatile toolkit for ongoing theme enhancement, including slideshows, banners, and other visual elements. While both contribute to improving the customer experience, their target audiences and the problems they solve are different. appstronaut helps generate initial interest and build a mailing list, while Section Star enhances the overall store design and functionality for existing customers.

Our Verdict
For merchants launching a new store or product and primarily focused on pre-launch marketing and email list building, appstronaut: ComingSoon Pages is the more suitable choice. Its focused feature set and ease of use make it ideal for quickly creating effective coming soon pages. However, for established Shopify stores looking to enhance their existing theme with professionally designed sections without coding knowledge, Section Star: Theme Sections is the better option. Its wider range of customizable sections allows for ongoing store improvement and enhanced customer engagement.
Given the significant difference in the number of reviews and the perfect rating of Section Star, it might be a safer bet for merchants concerned about reliability and developer support. However, appstronaut could be perfectly adequate for simpler pre-launch needs, especially if ease of use is the top priority. Ultimately, the decision depends on the specific needs and stage of development of the Shopify store.
