Apruvd ‑ Fraud Management vs OTP ‑ CoD Order Verificationfor Shopify (2026)
Apruvd ‑ Fraud Management and OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification, while both categorized under 'Fraud' in the Shopify app store, address fundamentally different types of fraud and cater to distinct merchant needs. Apruvd aims to be a comprehensive fraud prevention solution, focused on maximizing legitimate sales by minimizing false declines and offering chargeback protection. It targets merchants dealing with a high volume of transactions and seeking a 'hands-off' approach to fraud management, where decisions are made for them. In contrast, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification directly tackles fraudulent Cash on Delivery (CoD) orders, a prevalent issue in specific geographic markets. It empowers merchants to verify orders before fulfillment using One-Time Passwords (OTPs) sent via WhatsApp, SMS, or email. The critical difference lies in their approach: Apruvd offers automated transaction decisioning and chargeback guarantees, implying a risk assessment service integrated into the payment process. OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification puts the control in the merchant's hands to prevent fake CoD orders and related 'Return to Origin' (RTO) costs, primarily serving merchants in regions where CoD is a common payment method. The customer feedback also drastically differs, with Apruvd having no ratings and no reviews suggesting that the app might be new or unpopular, while OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification has a perfect 5/5 rating with 4 reviews. The contrasting focuses and customer reviews make choosing between them a decision largely driven by the merchant's specific business model and geographic focus.

Our Verdict
For merchants experiencing high chargeback rates and seeking a comprehensive fraud solution, Apruvd ‑ Fraud Management, if it gains user traction and proves its claims, could be a viable option. The 'guaranteed chargeback coverage' is a strong selling point. However, the lack of reviews and a 0/5 rating in 2026 is a significant red flag and requires careful consideration. Merchants should investigate thoroughly before committing.
OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the clear choice for merchants primarily offering Cash on Delivery, particularly in regions like India, Pakistan, the Philippines, and Egypt. The perfect rating and focus on reducing fake orders make it a valuable tool for these specific business contexts. If RTO costs associated with CoD orders are a significant pain point, OTP ‑ CoD Order Verification is the recommended solution.
