AR: Buy GTINs/UPC/EAN barcodes vs S: Store Locatorfor Shopify (2026)
AR: Buy GTINs/UPC/EAN barcodes and S: Store Locator are two Shopify apps catering to very different needs within the "Selling in person" category. AR: Buy GTINs focuses on providing merchants with GTINs/UPC barcodes, crucial for product approval and performance on online marketplaces like Google Shopping. The app offers a quick solution for acquiring these codes, especially for merchants who need them to list their products. However, it explicitly states that the provided GTINs are not brand registered, which might limit their usability on platforms like Amazon and Bol. On the other hand, S: Store Locator is designed to enhance the customer experience for businesses with physical store locations. It allows merchants to display their store locations on a Google Maps interface within their Shopify website. This is beneficial for brick-and-mortar businesses or those with dealer networks, making it easier for customers to find and visit physical stores. Its features, such as bulk upload, search functionality, and dealer registration forms, are geared towards businesses managing multiple locations and aiming to drive in-store traffic.

Our Verdict

If you're struggling to get your products approved on online marketplaces due to missing GTINs and understand the limitations of non-brand registered codes, AR: Buy GTINs can be a quick solution. Common Questions
Are these apps compatible with each other?
They address entirely different business needs, so they are unlikely to interact or be particularly compatible. One is for product listing requirements, the other for physical store management.
Which app is easier to set up?
AR: Buy GTINs is likely simpler to set up initially as it involves purchasing and adding barcodes. S: Store Locator, with its location management, map integration, and customization options, would generally require a more involved setup process.
Does S: Store Locator help with online sales?
Indirectly, it can help with online sales by driving traffic to physical stores, which may lead to online purchases after an in-store visit. It doesn't directly enhance online product listings like AR: Buy GTINs aims to do.
Are the GTINs from AR: Buy GTINs suitable for all online marketplaces?
No. The app description explicitly states that the GTINs are NOT brand registered and may not work on marketplaces like Amazon and Bol if brand registration is required.
Which app provides more long-term value?
This depends on the business model. For businesses heavily reliant on online marketplaces that require GTINs, AR: Buy GTINs provides immediate value. For businesses focused on brick-and-mortar sales, S: Store Locator offers ongoing value by driving traffic and improving customer experience.
