AR: Buy GTINs/UPC/EAN barcodes vs SC Store Locator Mapfor Shopify (2026)
AR: Buy GTINs/UPC/EAN barcodes and SC Store Locator Map cater to fundamentally different needs of Shopify merchants. The 'AR' app focuses on product identification and approval in online marketplaces like Google Shopping by providing GTINs (barcodes). Its strength lies in simplifying the process of acquiring these identifiers, though the provided GTINs are explicitly noted as non-brand registered, limiting their applicability in marketplaces like Amazon requiring brand registration. This app targets merchants seeking to list and improve the visibility of their products on platforms that rely on GTINs. SC Store Locator Map, on the other hand, directly addresses the needs of merchants with physical store locations or dealer networks. It provides a solution for showcasing these locations on a map, allowing customers to easily find the nearest store and get directions. Features like Google Autocomplete, search filters, and the 'Where to Buy' feature enhance the user experience. This app targets merchants who want to drive foot traffic to their brick-and-mortar stores, particularly those with multiple locations or dealerships.

Our Verdict
The choice between AR: Buy GTINs/UPC/EAN barcodes and SC Store Locator Map depends entirely on the merchant's business model. If a merchant primarily sells online through marketplaces and needs GTINs to list their products, particularly on Google Shopping, the 'AR' app is a relevant solution. However, they must understand the limitations of non-brand registered GTINs and test them on their desired platforms before committing.
On the other hand, if a merchant operates brick-and-mortar stores or manages a dealer network, the SC Store Locator Map is clearly the superior choice. It provides a user-friendly way to display store locations, enhancing the online shopping experience and driving foot traffic. The higher number of reviews for 'SC Store Locator Map' indicates wider adoption and likely a broader appeal, but doesn't necessarily negate the usefulness of the 'AR' app for its specific niche.
