Arbor Day Foundation vs Lift: Charity and Donationsfor Shopify (2026)
Arbor Day Foundation and Lift: Charity and Donations both aim to integrate charitable giving into Shopify stores, but they approach it from different angles. Arbor Day Foundation focuses specifically on tree planting through donations to their organization, emphasizing a direct and easily understandable environmental impact tied to each sale. Their value proposition is clear: increase conversion by offering customers the chance to contribute to reforestation. Lift, on the other hand, offers a more flexible and versatile platform for nonprofits, charities, and mission-driven brands to collect donations. They cater to a wider range of charitable causes beyond tree planting, providing diverse donation options and fundraising tools. The key difference lies in specialization versus generalization. Arbor Day Foundation is ideal for merchants seeking a simple, environmentally focused donation integration. Lift is suited for merchants looking for more control and customization in their charitable initiatives, whether they are NGOs raising funds or businesses supporting diverse causes. While both apps have perfect ratings, Lift has significantly more reviews, suggesting broader adoption and user experience data available to merchants making a decision. Lift also explicitly targets Nonprofits & Mission-Driven Brands, making it clear that it can be used to raise funds for the store's own goals, rather than just donating to another organization.

Our Verdict
For merchants who want a straightforward, environmentally focused charitable component directly tied to the Arbor Day Foundation, the Arbor Day Foundation app is a good choice. Its key strength is its simplicity and direct link to a well-known organization. However, the low number of reviews makes its reliability harder to determine.
If the merchant is a nonprofit themselves, needs more flexible donation options, supports multiple charities, or needs POS integration, Lift: Charity and Donations is the superior choice. The higher number of reviews suggest better reliability, and its feature set caters to a wider range of charitable scenarios. Lift's flexibility makes it a better fit for organizations that need to customize their donation programs and track donations closely.
Common Questions
Which app is easier to set up?
Based on the descriptions, Arbor Day Foundation may be simpler to set up due to its focus on a single charity and automated donation process. Lift offers more customization, which may require more initial setup time.
Which app is better for a dropshipping store?
Arbor Day Foundation might be a slightly better fit for a dropshipping store, as it requires less active management of charity relationships. The dropshipper can simply enable the feature and the Arbor Day Foundation takes care of the rest. Lift is more suitable for companies actively looking to manage their own charitable programs.
Does either app allow customers to choose which charity to support?
Arbor Day Foundation does not, as donations are directed to the Arbor Day Foundation's reforestation efforts. Lift offers customizable giving options which could allow for customers to choose between charities, but the base app description implies this is configured by the store admin.
Which app offers more options for marketing the charitable partnership?
Arbor Day Foundation provides a premium library of photos and videos, which suggests a greater focus on marketing the environmental impact. Lift focuses on integration and flexibility in donation options, but lacks specific mentions of marketing resources.
Which app is better for non-US based stores?
Arbor Day Foundation explicitly supports multi-currency and multi-language support for marketing badges. Lift does not explicitly mention multi-currency support in the description, but likely supports it through standard Shopify functionality.
