Arc: llms.txt vs Metafields Gurufor Shopify (2026)
Arc: llms.txt and Metafields Guru are both 5-star rated apps on the Shopify app store, but cater to vastly different needs and target different merchant segments. Arc: llms.txt focuses on optimizing a store's visibility for Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT and Gemini, by generating and managing an 'llms.txt' file. It aims to improve AI-driven search and indexing of products, collections, and other store content, making it valuable for merchants concerned about AI-driven SEO in the evolving search landscape. Metafields Guru, on the other hand, empowers merchants to enhance their storefronts with custom data through metafields. It provides robust tools for creating, managing, displaying, and migrating metafields, allowing for highly customized product information, richer functionality, and unique user experiences. While both apps fall under the 'Content' category, their functionality and objectives are distinct: one is about AI search, the other is about custom data and storefront enhancements.

Our Verdict
For merchants prioritizing AI-driven SEO and ensuring their products are discoverable in conversational search, Arc: llms.txt is the clear choice. Its focus on optimizing for LLMs is a unique and forward-thinking approach. However, due to the low number of reviews, merchants should consider it a newer app with less proven reliability.
If, instead, the goal is to create a highly customized storefront with rich product data and unique features, Metafields Guru is the superior option. Its comprehensive metafield management tools and established user base (indicated by the high number of reviews) make it a more reliable and versatile choice for merchants seeking to enhance their product presentation and user experience.
Common Questions
Which app helps me rank higher in Google search?
While Arc: llms.txt indirectly aims to improve visibility in AI-powered search results that may be incorporated into Google, it doesn't directly guarantee higher Google rankings. Metafields Guru can contribute by allowing richer, more detailed product descriptions that Google can index, but neither directly guarantee higher rankings.
Can I use both apps together?
Yes, theoretically, you could use both. Arc: llms.txt focuses on a specific AI-related aspect, while Metafields Guru handles general custom data. They address different needs and don't directly conflict.
Is Arc: llms.txt a replacement for a regular sitemap.xml?
No. Arc: llms.txt creates a file specifically for LLMs, while sitemap.xml is for traditional search engines like Google. You still need a sitemap.xml file.
Does Metafields Guru require coding skills?
The app description states you can display metafields without coding, implying that they offer code-free options. However, more advanced customization might still benefit from some coding knowledge.
What if new LLMs emerge after 2026? Will Arc: llms.txt automatically adapt?
The app description states the app is built for "every future LLM." The automatic refresh function likely updates based on new LLM crawlers. However, the user should still ensure that the generated llms.txt file is comprehensive and effective.
