Our Verdict
For merchants primarily concerned with ensuring their Shopify store is easily accessible and understandable to Large Language Models (LLMs) like ChatGPT, Gemini, and others, Arc: llms.txt offers a simple and straightforward solution. Its one-click generation of an `llms.txt` file makes it incredibly easy to implement. However, given the limited number of reviews, it's wise to consider the app's relatively newer status.
Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD is the better choice for merchants seeking a more comprehensive SEO strategy. While also offering features relevant to AI-driven search, it focuses on implementing schema markup for various types of content, improving visibility in traditional search results through rich snippets and enhanced click-through rates. The higher number of reviews suggests a more established product and user base, providing greater confidence in its effectiveness and support.
Common Questions
What is an 'llms.txt' file, and why is it different from robots.txt and sitemap.xml?
According to Arc: llms.txt, an `llms.txt` file is like a robots.txt and sitemap.xml file but specifically designed for Large Language Models (LLMs). It helps LLMs understand which parts of your store to crawl and index for use in conversational search, Google answers, and other AI shopping engines. It's distinct in targeting AI systems, while robots.txt manages crawler access and sitemap.xml helps search engines discover content.
Does Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD also help with LLM visibility, or is it only for traditional SEO?
Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD claims to help stores get discovered in AI-driven search, in addition to improving traditional SEO. By converting your products, reviews, and content into Google-approved schema, it helps search engines and AI systems understand what you sell. So it addresses both traditional SEO and the emerging landscape of AI search.
Is Arc: llms.txt a complete replacement for a robots.txt or sitemap.xml file?
No. Arc: llms.txt is intended to complement existing SEO practices, including robots.txt and sitemap.xml. It focuses specifically on LLM indexing. You will still need a robots.txt for managing crawler access and a sitemap.xml for helping search engines discover your content.
How does schema markup in Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD increase click-through rates?
Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD helps increase click-through rates by adding structured data (schema markup) to your product pages, reviews, FAQs, etc. This allows search engines to display rich snippets in search results, such as star ratings, prices, and FAQs, making your listings more visually appealing and informative, thus encouraging users to click through.
Is one app easier to set up and use than the other?
Based on the descriptions, Arc: llms.txt appears to be simpler to set up and use due to its one-click generation. Webrex: SEO Schema & JSON‑LD offers more features and customization options, which may require a slightly higher level of technical knowledge or SEO experience.
