Atelier | Private Sales vs Buy Button Plus channelfor Shopify (2026)
Atelier | Private Sales and Buy Button Plus channel, while both falling under the 'Selling online - Other' Shopify category, cater to vastly different merchant needs and strategies. Atelier focuses on creating exclusive, invite-only shopping experiences within the Shopify ecosystem. It empowers merchants to run private sales, VIP events, and product drops by offering features to hide collections, manage access via passwords or whitelists, and customize storefronts for a branded experience. Buy Button Plus, on the other hand, targets merchants seeking to expand their sales channels beyond their Shopify store by embedding buy buttons on external websites, blogs, or platforms like WordPress, Squarespace, and Wix. Atelier's strength lies in its ability to create a sense of exclusivity and reward loyal customers. Buy Button Plus excels at enabling sales from content-rich platforms, allowing merchants to capitalize on their existing audience outside of Shopify. While Atelier prioritizes a controlled, curated shopping environment, Buy Button Plus emphasizes broader accessibility and meeting customers where they already are. The choice between the two depends heavily on the merchant's overarching sales and marketing strategy.

Our Verdict
If your goal is to cultivate exclusivity, reward VIP customers, and create curated shopping experiences within your Shopify store, Atelier | Private Sales is the clear choice. Its features for managing access, hiding products, and customizing the storefront make it ideal for brands prioritizing customer loyalty and perceived value through exclusive offerings. However, consider the extremely low number of reviews, meaning this is a riskier choice.
Buy Button Plus channel is better suited for merchants who want to monetize their existing online presence on external platforms like blogs or websites. Its ability to seamlessly integrate buy buttons and automatically sync product updates makes it a powerful tool for driving sales directly from content. If your focus is on expanding sales channels and reaching a wider audience, Buy Button Plus channel is the more appropriate option. However, the lack of reviews suggests it is very new and unproven, though it is supported by Shopify.
