Avada GDPR Cookies Consent vs Novo: Ticker & Marqueefor Shopify (2026)
Avada GDPR Cookies Consent and Novo: Ticker & Marquee, while sharing the 'Notifications' and 'Banners' Shopify categories, serve drastically different purposes. Avada GDPR Cookies Consent focuses on legal compliance, specifically GDPR, CCPA, and other global data privacy regulations. It aims to provide merchants with the tools to obtain and manage user consent for cookies and data collection. Key strengths include Google Consent Mode v2 compatibility, comprehensive cookie scanning, and automated translation, making it suitable for merchants operating in or targeting regions with strict data privacy laws. Novo: Ticker & Marquee, on the other hand, is a marketing tool designed to enhance user engagement and promote sales. Its strength lies in its customizable announcement bar, enabling merchants to highlight promotional messages, discounts, and updates. It is suitable for merchants looking to increase visibility of important information and drive sales through dynamic visual elements. Although both apps utilize banners, their functionality differs significantly. Avada GDPR Cookies Consent focuses on mandatory compliance, requiring a banner to inform users about cookies. Novo: Ticker & Marquee provides an optional, dynamic banner that can be customized to improve the user experience and showcase sales promotions. Our Verdict
Merchants primarily concerned with legal compliance, especially those operating in or targeting the EU, US, or other regions with strict data privacy regulations, should prioritize Avada GDPR Cookies Consent. It provides the necessary tools to manage user consent and avoid legal penalties. Conversely, merchants focused on boosting sales, increasing user engagement, and promoting discounts or announcements should choose Novo: Ticker & Marquee. Its customizable announcement bar offers a visually appealing way to highlight important information and drive conversions.
Because the purposes of these two apps are so different, it is possible for a merchant to need both. Legal compliance is an absolute requirement for some stores, and marketing via announcement bars can be a helpful addition. If a merchant has to choose only one, it should be based on their business priorities: avoid legal issues or drive sales.
