Our Verdict
For merchants focused on offering diverse customization options *from the start* and needing fine-grained control over each variant, Avis Product Options, Variants is likely the better choice, given its strong reputation and a large volume of positive reviews. However, merchants struggling with product duplication and in need of a fast, automated solution to *consolidate* their product catalog into a cleaner, variant-driven structure should strongly consider Merges AI - Merge Products. Its AI-powered features and focus on SEO preservation offer a compelling value proposition, particularly if they are comfortable with a relatively newer app with fewer reviews at the time of this analysis.
Consider the current number of reviews with the new app. If in 2026 it still has fewer reviews, one might investigate further before using it on the primary store. It is important that old product SEO data is not lost and can be redirected as the description suggests. If a store has duplicated products, but cannot ensure the preservation of customer data and SEO, the new app is not suitable.
