Avis Product Options, Variants vs MPC Unit Pricing Calculatorfor Shopify (2026)
Avis Product Options, Variants and MPC Unit Pricing Calculator, while both listed under 'Custom Products' on Shopify, cater to vastly different needs. Avis Product Options, Variants focuses on enabling merchants to offer a diverse range of product customization options, allowing customers to personalize products before purchase. Its high rating and substantial number of reviews (5/5 with 1366 reviews) suggest a robust and reliable solution for general product customization. It is well-suited for merchants who need to provide options like color, size, material, and personalized text. MPC Unit Pricing Calculator, on the other hand, targets a very specific niche: merchants selling products by measurement (length, width, area, or volume). Its primary function is to allow customers to calculate the price based on their desired measurements of variable-sized products like fabrics, tiles, or wallpapers. While the description highlights its compatibility with various themes and ability to carry measurements to the cart and order detail page, its lack of reviews (0/5 with only 35 reviews) should be a key consideration. This suggests it might be a new app, have significant usability issues, or target an extremely limited merchant segment. The key functionality centers around setting unit prices and defining maximum/minimum limits for dimensions, catering to precise measurement-based sales.

Our Verdict
For the vast majority of Shopify merchants needing to offer standard product options like color, size, or materials, Avis Product Options, Variants is the clear choice given its high rating, substantial number of positive reviews, and assumed ease of use. Its focus on general product customization makes it a versatile solution for increasing sales through personalization.
MPC Unit Pricing Calculator, despite its focused functionality, should be approached with caution. Its lack of reviews and zero rating raise concerns about its reliability and ease of use. It is only suitable for merchants with very specific needs for selling products by precise measurement and calculating prices based on user-defined dimensions. Even then, thorough testing and due diligence are crucial before committing to this app.
